Endometrial Ablation

Endometrial Ablation

If you have been suffering from abnormal bleeding from your uterus that doesn’t seem to go away with medicine or hormone therapy, the cause may be a benign (non-cancerous) condition in your uterus. At Dr. Susan Fox’s Center for Women, our physicians can run tests to see if an Endometrial Ablation is an option for you.

An Endometrial Ablation is a minimally invasive procedure that destroys the lining of the uterus to control bleeding. We have the newest technology and most exceptional training available, so you can feel confident that our physicians can provide you with the highest quality care.

This procedure is only performed on women who aren’t currently pregnant and don’t plan on becoming pregnant in the future since it typically results in infertility. There are several different ways to perform an Endometrial Ablation, and our physicians will run tests to see which option would be the best for you.

There are different ways to perform this treatment, and all of them do not require any surgery at all. Your physician will insert small tools in the vagina to reach the uterus to remove it safely. Some of the options include heated fluid, microwave energy, and electrical currents.

Short recovery: We use the latest technologies for our treatments, and an Endometrial Ablation is no different. In as little as a week, you can be right back in your regular routine. The procedure is non-invasive, so you won’t need to worry about any incisions or feeling uncomfortable.

Some cramping: It’s not unusual to experiencing cramping or bleeding for a few days after your procedure. If your pain becomes too uncomfortable, our physicians can recommend medication to help alleviate your pain.

Limited activity: For the first few days after the procedure, your physician will advise you to avoid using tampons, douches, or having sexual activity. If your job requires you to do heavy lifting or strenuous activity, you may need to refrain for a couple of days.
